Support for Ukraine

Like many of you, we have been affected by the devastating news stories regarding the current situation in Ukraine. As a business, we are doing our best to respond in the most useful ways we can to the fast-moving situation.

What we are doing

After research and communication with local government and other organisations, the clear message was that donations to the Disaster Emergency Committee (DEC) were urgently needed. The DEC is an organisation made up of 15 charities currently providing food, water, shelter and medical assistance in Ukraine and neighbouring countries. To date, we have donated over £4,000 to the DEC as a business and through staff fundraising initiatives.

Local support

Local to our head office,The Polish Club Southampton has been collecting essential items to take to the Ukraine border. Recently we sent them a donation of our PPE clothing and first aid kits. We continue to monitor the situation to see how else we can offer support.

In addition, one of our retail partners has been taking van loads of donated items across to Poland to aid humanitarian efforts in Ukraine and neighbouring regions. We have supported these efforts with a further donation of first aid kits, gloves, torches and batteries.

We aim to keep in touch with partners and the local organisations raising funds and collecting essential items to support Ukraine so we can respond quickly to offer help in the most practical way we can.

How to help

If you are local to our Hampshire head office, follow The Polish Club Southampton on Facebook for the latest updates on what they need. They have also set up a Facebook group with volunteering opportunities.

If you live elsewhere, here is a useful link with information about other donation points. Please check that your local organisation is still accepting donated items. You can also check with charities such as the British Red Cross and Save the Children. Local charity shops and councils may also be able to direct you to the nearest donation point.

Please also consider donating what you can to the DEC at www.dec.org.uk.
