You're Not Alone: Helpful Resources for Mental Health Awareness Week
12th May 2025

Mental Health Awareness Week kicks off today, organised by the Mental Health Foundation, the theme this year is ‘community’. You can read all about this and why community matters so much on the Mental Health Awareness Week website.
It certainly seems more important than ever right now to look after our mental health and seek out community and connections. Whether it’s reaching out and finding a new community or looking out for your existing community, friends and family – human connection goes a long way.
In the digital and social media age, while we’re more connected than ever, we can also feel more isolated than ever. Having a community that cares, whether that’s virtually or otherwise, can make a huge difference. For anyone who feels they might be struggling we have rounded up some useful mental health resources for the difficult times many people are facing at the moment.
Help for the construction industry
If you’re in the construction industry, take a look at two organisations that can help:
Band of Builders is a great place to turn if you’re in construction and need support: https://www.bandofbuilders.org/
There’s also the Lighthouse Construction Charity who can help anyone in the industry with everything from mental wellbeing to emergency aid:

Automotive industry support
For anyone in the automotive industry, we highly recommend reaching out to our charity partner ben, the automotive charity if you need help. Whether you’re a mechanic or you work in car sales, whatever you’re struggling with, ben can help.
Home improvement sector support
For those in the home improvement sector, the Rainy Day Trust is the only charity which exists solely to help people who have worked in the UK’s home improvement and enhancement industry. They can help in a range of ways, find out more on their website: https://www.rainydaytrust.org.uk/
Retail Industry
Draper has strong links to the retail community, we know many of our audience are hardworking independent retailers and it’s not an easy job. For any retailers in need, you can turn to the Retail Trust for support: https://www.retailtrust.org.uk/
