June’s garden jobs & essentials for summer

21st June is the longest day of the year and it’s just around the corner. We can’t wait for this special day, when all the extra sunlight and warmth will encourage your garden to bloom and grow. To help get your garden summer ready, we’ve rounded up some top tips, tools and essentials.
Watering for happy hydrated plants
Summer is certainly time to up your watering if it’s been hot and dry. During the month of June you might also want to get planting in pots and borders, water these regularly to give them a strong start. Snipping, pruning and cutting back
There can be plenty of cutting jobs to do in June, such as deadheading your roses. Deadheading your flowers can seem a bit brutal but it will actually help prolong the flowering season. The RHS recommends cutting back spring-flowering perennials in June.
